NY/NJ companies gain access to European Banking market through US Commercial Service

The US Commercial Service in Frankfurt, Germany represented 10 US Companies at the European Banking Technology Fair through the US Business Information Office.  Among the NY/NJ companies exhibited were Archronica Architects, Smart Communications, the Wall Street Technology Association, and iBeam Communications (formerly NextVenue of New York).  Representatives of the US Commercial Service worked the show to generate contacts for these companies and briefed other US exhibitors about CS services available around the world.  Other NY/NJ companies exhibiting at the EBT included Fame, Multex, and W-technologies.  For more information about the program and the US exhibitors visit our website:


Export Canada First!

On April 13, 2000, TS Harmon organized a Canada First Seminar in cooperation with CS Annie Crombie, CS Ottawa, Canada. The seminar featured CS Crombie providing a presentation on Canadian market entry, David Hotchkiss of the Canadian Customs and Revenue Agency providing a review of temporary entry documentation requirements, and Joe Fagan of MERX, providing an overview of the e-commerce capabilities available to U.S. businesses interested in bidding on Canadian government tenders. The program was co-sponsored and hosted by the New York City Economic Development Corporation. Over 35 businesses attended the event, TS Harmon and TS Mottley provided on-site counseling to both new and current NYUSEAC clients.


New York Gateway

On March 31st the NYUSEAC hosted 'NY International Business Gateway, the first international exchange to bring together all organizations involved in international business promotion in New York. 180 guests representing 35 countries joined speakers US Commercial Service trade specialist Anastasia Xenias, Empire State Economic Development Corp. Deputy Commissioner Kelly Jones, NY State International Trade Director Gerald Shaye, NY City Economic Development Corp. Senior Vice President Judith Press Brenner, NYC & Company President, Direct Marketing Association Senior Vice President Charles Prescott and IBM Senior Vice President S.M. Gupta.  The event was lauded by Mayor Rudolph Giuliani who sent a congratulatory letter.


Stylish Business

New York Export Assistance Center International Trade Specialist and Apparel Team Leader Anastasia Xenias with MAGIC International NY's General Manager Michael Press at the 1999 launch of fashion show Pret America, Javits Convention Center. The successful partnership between Commerce and Larkin/MAGIC to expand international sales of American fashion was highlighted in Export America, Commerce's magazine for exporters. MAGIC International/Advanstar Communications has worked with the New York US Export Assistance Center since 1994 to attract more foreign buyers to apparel trade shows and to help US apparel companies enter overseas markets.
